TOI-1452 b: The Ocean World
A World Drowned in Blue
Located 100 light-years away in the constellation Draco, TOI-1452 b is a potential "ocean planet." Unlike Earth, where water makes up only 1% of the mass, water might account for up to 30% of this planet's mass.
The planet orbits a binary star system, completing one revolution every 11 days. Because its star is a M-dwarf (red dwarf), the planet receives a similar amount of heat to Earth despite its close orbit.
Could Life Exist There?
While liquid water is the key ingredient for life, we don't know yet if TOI-1452 b has an atmosphere. The James Webb Space Telescope is currently scheduled to take a closer look at its chemical composition.
Biological Markers
Searching for oxygen and methane in the atmosphere.
Surface Temp
Estimated between 20°C and 40°C.
Magnetic Field
Crucial for protecting possible life from radiation.
