Planet Earth

Learn about our amazing home planet and how to protect it!

Our Home in Space

Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only place we know of that has life! It's the perfect distance from the Sun - not too hot and not too cold. Earth has everything living things need: water, air, and the right temperature.

🌊

The Water Planet

71% of Earth's surface is covered with water! Most of it is in the oceans. Water is essential for all life on Earth and makes our planet look blue from space.

🌡️

The Atmosphere

Earth's atmosphere is a blanket of gases that protects us from harmful radiation and keeps our planet warm. It's made mostly of nitrogen and oxygen - the air we breathe!

🏔️

Land & Mountains

Earth's land is divided into seven continents. Mountains, valleys, deserts, and forests create diverse habitats for millions of species. Mount Everest is the tallest mountain at 29,032 feet!

🌍 Earth's Layers

Earth is made up of different layers, like an onion:

Crust:The thin outer layer where we live. It's 5-70 km thick.
Mantle:A thick layer of hot, semi-solid rock about 2,900 km thick.
Outer Core:Liquid iron and nickel, about 2,200 km thick. Creates Earth's magnetic field!
Inner Core:Solid ball of iron and nickel at the center. It's as hot as the Sun's surface!

♻️ Protecting Our Planet

Earth is our only home, and we need to take care of it! Here's how you can help:

♻️
Recycle

Reuse materials instead of throwing them away

💧
Save Water

Turn off taps and don't waste water

🌱
Plant Trees

Trees clean the air and provide homes for animals

💡
Save Energy

Turn off lights when you leave a room
